The Clerk/Treasurer of the City of Gillett is an appointed position. The current Clerk/Treasurer is Marcie Schuettpelz

Marcie began her position as City Clerk September 1, 2009.

City Hall 

City Hall is located at 150 N. McKenzie Avenue, Gillett.

City Hall houses the:

  • Police Department
  • City Clerk/Treasurer offices
  • Public Works Supervisor's office
  • The Council Chambers hosts a Past to Future mural on one wall
  • Drop Box for payments outside of the Police Station

Fee Schedule Effective November 17, 2008

  • Beverage Server’s License Fee: $30.00 -  non-refundable
  • Animal Impound Fee: $30.00
  • Publication Fee: $7.50 or as billed to the city.

Closure dates are always listed in advance in the Oconto County Times Herald, any additons or changes will be listed there. The City of Gillett reserves the right to add or alter the dates closed due to placement on the calendar or other reason that the City sees fit.

Budget & Taxes

The city's assessed value is $36,887,200.00. The City of Gillett's annual budget for 2004 is $1,079,911.00 with revenue other than from taxes of $770,280.00.22. The City portion of the tax rate is $7.7678 per $1000 of assessed value. For 2003, the total tax rate was $26.131054 per $1000. Included in the city budget are items such as police protection, fire protection, refuse pick-up, snow plowing, street repairs, curb-side pickup for recycling, recycling center, park facilities and maintenance, public library, cemetery, branch chipping, municipally owned building maintenance. Gillett has been noted for it's efficient snow removal, lending a plus to employees getting their jobs done on time.  

Property Tax Bills 

Property tax bills are processed in December of each year and mailed out around the 2nd week of December. Payments are accepted by mail or in person at the City Hall through January 31 of the following year. Any payments made after that time must be sent directly to the Oconto County Court House. Information is sent along with the tax bills pertaining to garbage pickup rules, recycling calendars, chipping calendars, etc. This information may also be obtained by calling the City Clerk at 920-855-2255. 

Building Permits

The City of Gillett requires a building permit be obtained for any project that has a cost of $500.00 or more. Building permits may be obtained by calling the the City Clerk at 920-855-2255. Permits vary in cost depending on the total dollar cost of the building/remodeling or construction project.

Revaluation

The City of Gillett was revalued in 2004 by R & R Assessing from Oconto Falls, WI. This procedure is required by the State of Wisconsin in order to keep the assessments in line with sales of property.
