Gillett Police Department Personnel

The Officers of the Gillett Police Department proudly provide the City of Gillett with over 52 years of Law Enforcement Experience. This is a proud achievement for a small town law enforcement agency. The officers of the Gillett Police Department commend the City of Gillett Common Council for giving us the opportunity to work for this community.

William W. Pecha - Police Chief

William Pecha enlisted in the army in 1972 and began his law enforcement career with the Military Police Corps of the 4th Infantry Division. Upon his completion of service he joined the Kimberly Police Dept. in the Fox Valley area. During this time he attended Fox Valley Technical College in Police Science. In January of 1981 Bill assumed the responsibilities of Chief of Police in Gillett.

Bill is proud of the working relationship between the community and the department. He credits this cooperation as a leading factor in the accomplishments of the department. Bill has attempted to lead and progress the department through computerization, training, community programs and innovative equipment.

Bill and his wife are the proprietors of Sleepy Hollow Motel located in Gillett. When not busy with work or the motel Bill takes advantage of hunting and fishing opportunities.

Officer Dennis J. Heise - Senior Officer

Dennis Heise began his Law Enforcement career in 1980 working as a part-time Deputy for the Oconto County Sheriff's Department. Officer Heise was hired Full-time on November 1, 2001 by by the Gillett Police Department.

Officer Heise takes care of the Crime Prevention Duties for the City of Gillett. Dennis also is the Coordinator for Crime Stoppers of Oconto County, which also takes care of the Quick-50 program in our schools.

Dennis enjoys taking time out to enjoy the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

Senior Officer Gary T. Pemrich - Patrolman

Gary Pemrich was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1960. His first taste of law enforcement was in 1979 as a special deputy for the Oconto County Sheriff's Department working security at a county park. After attending police academy Officer Pemrich was employed briefly part-time with the Lena Police Department then was hired full time for the Gillett Police Department in July of 1982.

Officer Pemrich has an extensive background in security, crime prevention and computer sciences. He has attended classes in internet crime (search, processing and analysis of computer evidence). He has done security surveys of corporations and provided counseling services to law enforcement agencies in police record management. Officer Pemrich established the Crime Stoppers of Oconto County and the Quick 50 program while at Gillett.
Officer Pemrich works with the Gillett & Suring School Districts teaching the CounterAct  Drug & Alcohol use resistance Program to 5th graders.

Officer Pemrich and his wife Vicky own and operate Spirits of Gillett LLC, a liquor store and event hall across from beautiful Zippel Park in the center of the City. He is also very active in the Gillett Rail Runners ATV Club presently as Treasurer.
