Recycling
- Recycling is MANDATORY in the City of Gillett.
- The city offers two options for residents to choose from.
- First, recyclable items may be picked up curbside. Plastic bins available from retailers may be used Recyclables need to be separated and are picked up every other Tuesday in the early morning hours. Recycling Schedule - with more info.
- The following items are not collectable curbside but may be recycled at the recycling center.
- White goods
- tires
- car batteries
- motor oil
- scrap metal
- The second option is the recycling center located on West Park Street. Items taken to the recycling center must be sorted; however, the special bins are not required. The center is open to both City and Town of Gillett residents.
- Recycling Center Hours
Wednesday - 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday - 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
What to recycle (please separate):
- Paper
- Newsprint, catalogs, egg cartons, magazines, paper bags, cereal & other food boxes,12 pack boxes, shoe & clothing boxes, junk mail, computer paper, construction paper, stationary and books ( hard & soft covered)
- Keep papers dry
- Place loose in container (no ties)
- Remove all food residue and any plastic liners
- No paper juice or beverage containers
- Keep newspapers and magazines separate from other paper products
- Bundle or bag newspapers and magazines

- Set under bin in stacks no larger than 3 feet by 3 feet (curbside pick-up)

- Jars & Bottles only. No light bulbs, safety glass, or mirrors. Only bottles you can see through.
- Remove caps & rings
- Rinse clean
- Sort by color, clear, brown and green (center drop off)
- Labels are OK
- Do not break
- May put window pane, ceramics, blue bottles, drinking glasses in with green glass

- Steel, Tin, and Aluminum cans, Tin Foil
- Food Cans, Empty paint cans (1 gallon or less, paint must be dry), and Aerosol cans are okay , Tin Foil.
- Rinse Clean
- Remove paper labels
- To save space cut out ends and flatten
- Do not puncture aerosols
- Place metal cans and aluminum foil in a paper bag and place inside gray recycling bin (curb side pick-up)
- Food Cans, Empty paint cans (1 gallon or less, paint must be dry), and Aerosol cans are okay , Tin Foil.

- Usable items can be directly donated to New Beginnings or Goodwill
- Books can be donated to the Gillett Public Library for the Friends of the GPL Book Sale.

- Car and truck tires accepted. A nominal fee is charged per tire. Register with the attendant.
